NIH Public Access Mandate
The National Institutes of Health Public Access Policy requires scientists to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that stem from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication. To help advance science and improve human health, the Policy requires that these papers are accessible to the public on the database PubMed Central no later than 12 months after publication. Review of information on this site assists researchers in determining applicability of the policy, addressing journal copyright issues, the process of submitting a paper to PubMed Central (PMC), and providing a PMC reference number in the paper citation.
