Scott Watkins Scott Watkins, Head, Educational Services

Scott came to Mason in 2008 as Head of the Educational Services unit. His background includes expertise in instructional technology and online/distance education. Scott enjoys exploring how social media and other emerging technologies are transforming the ways people teach, learn, and communicate, and he regularly investigates new tools and techniques for library research instruction. Scott is very interested in building collaborative partnerships with faculty who seek to enhance the quality of their students' research. His other interests are broad and eclectic, but they include a number of nerdy pursuits like video games, science fiction, and time travel.

jackie Sipes

Jackie Sipes, Instructional Design Librarian
As the Instructional Design Librarian, Jackie provides instructional and technological support to Mason Libraries. She designs online learning resources that promote basic information literacy and collaborates with Mason's liaison librarians to create discipline-specific resources. Jackie maintains the Educational Services web presence and the instruction wiki. She is interested in exploring different instructional technologies and discovering how those technologies can be used to deliver instruction, as well assessing the impact of these technologies on information literacy instruction. Outside of the library Jackie enjoys hanging out with her cats, discovering new music, and reading/watching sci-fi.

Brian Brodeur Brian Brodeur, Program Assistant

Brian Brodeur serves as the Program Assistant to Educational Services. He provides support to the Head of Educational Services and other Educational Services staff in developing the efforts of librarians in teaching, research and reference, outreach, and the general promotion of library services. Responsible for supporting the research and information needs of faculty, students, and staff of George Mason University, Brian instructs general education students, develops and maintains print and electronic instructional resources, performs administrative tasks for the department, promotes instruction and liaison services, as well as promoting the general goals of University Libraries.
