Instruction Rooms

Mason Libraries has at least one instruction room available on each campus. These rooms are used primarily for research-related instruction with librarians. If you have questions, please see our policies or contact Educational Services at edserv@gmu.edu.

Arlington Campus Library Instruction Room

The Arlington Campus Library Instruction Room is equipped with the following:

  • 15 personal computers with full internet access
  • 20 seats
  • Extra table space to accommodate student laptops
  • a podium (with one additional PC)
  • an LCD projector and screen
  • easel with dry-erase board
  • sufficient speakers
  • Laserjet printer

The instruction lab is located in Founders Hall Room 332 on the third floor of the library. To access this room, please enter the library through the main entrance on the 2nd floor of Founders Hall and then proceed upstairs to the 3rd floor.

Fenwick Library Instruction Room

The Fenwick Library Instruction Room is located on the second floor of Fenwick Library in room 214A. To reach it, enter the library through the main entrance and turn left to find the stairs in front of Periodicals. Turn right at the top of the stairs. The Instruction Room is the first door on your left. Fenwick instruction room

To reach the Fenwick Library Instruction Room by elevator, enter the library on the first floor and take a right. When you reach the Reference Desk, take a left. Locate the elevator and take it to the second floor. When you exit the elevator, turn right. Follow the stacks and enter the doorway directly in front of you, wind around the corridor until you exit through another doorway. The Fenwick Library Instruction Room will be the second door on your right.

The Fenwick Library Instruction Room is equipped with the following:

  • 22 personal computers with full internet access
  • a podium (with one additional PC)
  • an LCD projector and screen
  • sufficient speakers
  • one large dry-erase board
  • an HP Laserjet printer

The Fenwick Instruction room seats 23.

Johnson Center Library Instruction Room

jc instruction roomThe Johnson Center Library Instruction Room is equipped with the following:

  • 29 MacBook laptop computers with wireless internet access
  • a podium (with one additional PC and MacBook laptop)
  • an LCD projector and screen
  • two microphones
  • sufficient speakers
  • ten large dry-erase boards

The Instruction Room seats 30 comfortably at six large five-piece tables that may be broken down into 30 individual tables.

The Johnson Center Library Instruction Room is located on the second floor of the Johnson Center Library in room 228. To reach it, enter the Johnson Center Library on the first floor, climb the stairs behind the Circulation Desk (or take elevator to the left of the Circulation Desk), and look for the blue banner that reads “Library Instruction Room.”

Mercer Library Instruction Room

The Mercer Library Instruction Room is equipped with the following:Fenwick instruction room

  • one desktop computer with internet access
  • one large dry-erase board
  • projection screen
  • one TV,VHS, and Blu-ray player on a movable cart

LCD projectors and other equipment can be checked out from the Classroom Technologies in Bull Run Building, Room 136. To reserve equipment, please call 703.993.8499 or email pwav@gmu.edu. The Mercer Instruction room seats eight.

The Mercer Library Instruction Room is located on the Prince William Campus of George Mason University in the Occoquan Building in Mercer Library, room 104H. This room may be reserved by calling Mercer Library circulation desk at 703.993.8348. Please ask for assistance at the circulation desk upon arrival.
