Find Books in the Library Catalog
To search for books, videos, DVDs, music, scores, journals, and other materials found in Mason Libraries' collections, try using the following steps:
Step 2: To search by keyword, type in your search terms and click submit. The catalog automatically searches for Any word anywhere, meaning that a search for "Nietzsche" will return books by Nietzsche, about Nietzsche, or with "Nietzsche" in the title.
If you know the title, author, or call number of a specific title, you may limit your search by using the "Find Results In" box to the right of the search box (or the drop down menu if you are looking at the Libraries' home page). For instance, you could select "Author," search for "Nietzsche" and results would include only books written by Nietzsche.
Use the Set Limits button to narrow your search by campus location, date, or material type (book, manuscript, score, etc.).
Step 3: After you have performed your search and retrieved a list of results, click on any item in the results list to view more information about that item, such as its location and whether or not it's checked out.
Step 4: If you've decided the item fits your research needs, note the availability, location, and call number. You can send the call number to your mobile phone using the "Send Call Number to phone" link.
To determine if an item is available for immediate check out, note the status. Use this chart to help you determine the meaning of an item's status.
You can also print, save, or email the information to yourself using the box at the bottom of the page.
