CHINESE NEWSPAPERS

This is a list of on-line newspapers in Chinese. Some of the papers are bi-lingual as well, so you may read them in Chinese or English.

China Daily

China Daily, established in 1981, is the only national English-language newspaper in China. It calls itself the "voice of China" in its mission statement, and states that it is "committed to helping the world know more about China and the country's integration with the international community." It is a general newspaper that covers Chinese politics, economy, society and culture. China Daily is the only representative for China in the Asian News Network (ANN), a non-government media organization consisting of 14 major English-language newspapers, whose total circulation is more than 20 million.

China View

Chinaview is supported by the Xinhua News Agency/Xinhuanet, the state and worldwide news agency in China.

Beijing Review

Beijing Review is China's only weekly journal in English (Web version appears in Chinese, English, French, Japanese and German. It is published in Beijing and covers the national and international news scene.

Central News Agency

Central News is a Taiwanese newspaper that contains reportage around the world, Taiwan and Mainland China. It appears in three languages: Chinese, English and Spanish.

People's Daily

On line since January 14, 1998. It translates major news releases from the People's Daily, and new policies, resolutions and statements of the Chinese Government. Internet users can also find in special columns of People's Daily Online useful information about the activities of Chinese leaders, basic facts on China, and places of interest in China.

The Hong Kong Standard

Hong Kong based business and news resource. Their mission statement reads as follows: "Our goal at The Standard is to cover the news as truthfully, fairly and impartially as possible, and to treat our readers and the people and institutions we cover openly and with respect."
