The following web-links are to sites that provide a variety of services pertaining to Chinese language and Culture.

China the Beautiful

This site contains general information about Chinese customs and culture and offers a number of links to practice Chinese language skills. It provides Chinese language and culture links as well as a bulletin board where people can post questions to the web master and others who maintain the page.

LEARNING CHINESE ON-LINE

Dr. Tianwe Xie of California State University-Long Beach has assembled a great site that has links to a variety of teaching and learning aids for use in the study of the Chinese language.

CHINALINKS

Dr. Marjorie K.M. Chan's "Chinalinks" web-site is a goldmine of opportunity for anyone interested in Chinese. It lists hundreds of links relating to the study of Chinese language and culture. On-line language study, Chinese font downloads, as well as study and teaching materials can all be found here...and much more!

CHINA SITE

Created in 1994, China Site is web site directory and index for China/Chinese related resources with a long history. A good resource for many facets of mainland Chinese language and culture.

EAST AND SOUTH EAST ASIA: AN ANNOTATED DIRECTORY OF INTERNET RESOURCES

Professor Robert Y. Eng's award-winning site is probably the single best web resource for research on China, its people, language and culture. You can find everything from e-texts of poets from the Tang dynasty to various web-cast television and radio links that allow you a more contemporary window through which to experience Chinese culture. If you were on a desert island with acces to only one site, this would be the one.

GMU Restricted Access Databases-To access these sites you will need to use your student G number (unless you are using a library computer). Note these links take you to a page with several databases. Simply scroll down to the database you wish to access and click. When the proxy server prompts you for your G number (your student number, also printed on your student ID), type it in(be sure to use a capital G) and press enter.

Online version of the print Europa World Year Book. Provides lengthy descriptions of countries and international organizations as well as multinational comparative statistics.

World Factbook

A complete geographical handbook, featuring 267 full-color maps and flags of all nations and geographical entities. Each country profile tracks demographic, ethnicity, literacy, political, and economic data.

World News Connection
