US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Databases - bibliographic content searching on U.S. patents since 1976, including full-page images. Requires a browser plug-in to view TIFF images of full patents. Links to free plug-ins provided; AlternaTIFF plug-in recommended for PCs.

IBM Intellectual Property Network - search the full text of U.S. patents since 1971 and European patents since 1980, and search for abstracts of Japanese patent applications since 1976. Full-page images can be viewed on-screen, and printable copies can be ordered for a fee.

European Patent Office - search for European (EU) patents, and display full-text when available.
