This finding aid will introduce you to many useful databases and web sites on French topics. It will also help you locate French materials in the Fenwick Library and the Johnson Center Library on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University.
To browse French materials in GMU's Library Catalog:
• Click on the "Set Limits" button on the lower right
• Scroll down the "Language" pull-down menu and select "French"
• Click on the "Set Limits" button again
• Click on the "Builder Search" tab
• In the first "Search for" dialogue box, type "in"
• In the second "Search for" dialogue box, type "cm"
• In-between these boxes, select the "OR" option
• Finally, click the "Search" button
This will produce a list of French-language materials held by the GMU libraries.

Books and articles not held by the GMU Libraries may be obtained through the WRLC (Washington Research Library Consortium) or Interlibrary Loan.
The GMU Library currently subscribes to 159 electronic journals which are in French or on French topics. Browse these in the E-Journal Finder by typing "French" into the Journal Keyword box, or search by title. For a guide to locating journal articles, click here.
For French-language journals in print form, go to the Library Catalog and search by "Journal Title." Or, click on "Set Limits" on the lower right, select "French" under Language, and confirm "Set Limits." Then type in "periodicals" as a Keyword to browse the titles.
The Fenwick Library carries two Encyclopedias in French, on the first floor in the Reference section, across from the elevators:
