GIS Hardware/Software GIS@libraries.gmu.edu (What's new)
Last Updated, 5/2007 |
In response to increased demand for digital geospatial data, analysis, and digital maps for academic research, the Libraries worked with the University to get a site license for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software during the past years. As a result of this effort, the Libraries received ESRI's ArcView 3.2 (with Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst and 3D Analyst extensions) and ArcInfo software package in Fall, 2000. Fenwick Library Government Documents/Maps unit provides access to GIS software, necessary hardware and other related commercial GIS datasets including 1980 CensusCD, CensusCD+Maps (1990), Wessex Tiger Boundary Files, and Historical U.S. County Boundary Files (1979-1999) in ArcView format. Primary access to this software and machines is given to patrons affiliated with the GMU community. The general public may speak with a librarian about use of the machines and software as well as use of digital data. Please use the online form to obtain assistance in using the above software packages, to sign up for time to use the GIS machines, or to request geospatial datasets. If you have any questions in regard to GIS at Fenwick Library, please contact Joy Suh, Government Documents Librarian, at 703-993-2238 or hsuh1@gmu.edu. |
