George Mason University is an institutional member of BioMed Central (BMC),
a UK based publishing house, providing immediate and open access to full-text of research articles published in its 100+ online journals covering all areas of biology and medicine. The GMU's Institutional Membership waives the author publishing fee of $525 for all GMU researchers and provides a 15% discount on institutional subscriptions to any of the paid-for products BioMed Central publishes.

Public Library of Science
George Mason University is an institutional member of Public Library of Science (PLoS), a publisher of two online peer-reviewed journals: PLoS Biology and PLoS MedicineThree new journals - PLoS Computational Biology, PLoS Genetics, and PLoS Pathogens - will be published in 2005.
All GMU researchers receive a 10% discount on the author publishing fee of $1,500 per article.
