What is netLibrary™?
netLibrary™
is a collection of several thousand electronic books (or eBooks) on a variety of
subjects. There are two eBook collections – Library (GMU
purchased; a collection that is restricted to current faculty, staff, and
students) and Public (thousands of free public access books
available to anyone), that are available for check out just as
traditional library books are. You may search for a book by author,
title, publisher, keyword, or subject term.   Once you preview and/or
download an eBook, you may search within the full-text.  The netLibrary™
collection is updated on a
semi-regular basis so please check back for new titles. netLibrary™
is
available anytime, from any Internet-accessible computer, using either Netscape 4.75
or greater or Internet Explorer 4.0x or greater.
How do I
access netLibrary™?
You must create an account, separate from your George Mason University usernames/accounts
and passwords. Once you set up your account from the Mason network, you may login to
http://www.netlibrary.com
from anywhere. The libraries are not responsible for usernames and passwords. Please visit
http://www.netlibrary.com/supply_email.asp
for assistance.
How
do I setup an account?
If you already have an account with netLibrary™ from another library, you
must establish a new account (different username) to access the nearly 15,000
full-text titles in the University Libraries' collection. If you are on campus
you may go directly to
http://www.netlibrary.com/signup.asp
to create an account. If you are off campus you must go through the
Libraries' proxy server
and then click "Create an Account."
DON’T FORGET your username and password, and
use it each time you log into netLibrary™.
How do I vew a netLibrary Book?
-
You may Browse an eBook for up to 15 minutes. Thus, after
the allotted time, there is no guarantee that the book will
continue to be
available
since the eBook may be requested by another library patron.
-
The check out and downloading options are not available for George Mason
University.
Can I copy or print?
To prevent you from
copying or printing an entire book, and thus keeping you from violating copyright
laws, you may only copy and/or print one page at a time. Note: It is best to use
netLibrary’s™ buttons rather than the browser buttons when navigating the
eBook.
Please visit the netLibrary™
help page at
http://www.netlibrary.com/help/index.asp
for a further assistance with searching and using the Reader software.
