CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) on PubMed
The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) have partnered to create CAM, a subset of NLM's PubMed. This is a free search of journal article citations, many with full-text links, in the MEDLINE database and additional life science journals. CAM on PubMed limits your search to complementary and alternative medicine results.

DailyMed: Current Medication Information
A database from the National Library of Medicine that "provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA approved labels (package inserts)," searchable by drug name.

Evidence Based Medicine Tool Kit
From the University of Alberta, Canada. Provides a collection of tools for identifying, assessing and applying relevant evidence for better health care decision-making. Based on the work of the Evidence Based Medicine Working Group.

Free Medical Journals
Over the next few years, many important medical journals will be available online, free and in full-text. The access to free scientific knowledge will have a major impact on medical practice and attract Internet visitors to these journals. Among the 1340 journals sorted by specialty, language, and new additions presently available are New England Journal of Medicine, Hematology, Cancer Medicine, and British Medical Journal. Options are also available for notice of updates on new journals added to the site.

Hardin MD: Medical Information and Pictures
Launched in 1996 and maintained by librarians at the University of Iowa Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, this site is "a source to find the best lists, or directories, of information in health and medicine" as well as links to medical pictures.

The Hastings Center
"Leading bioethics into the future." Based in New York, "The Hastings Center is an independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit bioethics research institute founded in 1969 to explore fundamental and emerging questions in health care, biotechnology, and the environment."

Kaiser Family Foundation's State Health Facts Online

Lab Tests Online

National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature
Based at Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics, the NRCBL "is a specialized collection of books, journals, newspaper articles, legal materials, regulations, codes, government publications, and other relevant documents concerned with issues in biomedical and professional ethics. The library holdings represent the world's largest collection related to ethical issues in medicine and biomedical research" and can be searched online.

National Women's Health Information Center
This web site provides reliable health information for women everywhere (incluyendo Recursos en Español). Links to women’s interests include breastfeeding, pregnancy, menopause and hormone therapy, body image, girls’ and minority health, quitting smoking, and violence.

NOAH: New York Online Access to Health
O, Acceso Computerizado de la Salud en Nueva York, a bilingual site which "provides access to high quality full-text consumer health information in English and Spanish that is accurate, timely, relevant and unbiased," compiled by a consortium of libraries in New York state.

A great resource for information on jobs, careers, programs, scholarships, health insurance and more.

OncoLink
Founded in 1994 and maintained by the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, "with a mission to help cancer patients, families, health care professionals and the general public get accurate cancer-related information at no charge... We update the information everyday and provide information at various levels, from introductory to in-depth."

The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN)
The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN) is a peer-reviewed, online publication addressing pertinent issues in nursing. The intent of this journal is to present different perspectives on topics that affect nursing practice, research, and education, thus enabling readers to understand the full complexity of a particular topic. The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing is available free of charge and published jointly by The American Nurses Association and the Kent State University College of Nursing.

Public Health Image Library (PHIL): Photographs, Illustrations, Multimedia Files
"Created by a Working Group at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the PHIL offers an organized, universal electronic gateway to CDC's pictures. We welcome public health professionals, the media, laboratory scientists, educators, students, and the worldwide public to use this material for reference, teaching, presentation, and public health messages. The content is organized into hierarchical categories of people, places, and science." Detailed captions accompany the files. Includes historical images from the early 20th century.

PubMed
This free online search "is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 16 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources."

State Public Health.org
Public health demographics, directories, data, and analysis from the 50 states as well as 6 territories, including current health news, hot issues, and downloadable PDF reports.

United American Nurses-AFL-CIO (UAN)
UAN is the union for nurses, by nurses, representing 100,000 RNs nationwide—and a full-fledged affiliate of both the American Nurses Association and the AFL-CIO. UAN staff nurses set the standard for RNs in organizing, collective bargaining and contracts.
