Overview: What is SciFinder Scholar?

SciFinder Scholar is a special research suite for several Chemical Abstracts Service databases:

  • Chemical Abstracts (CAplus) (bibliographic data from 1947-present)
  • CAS Registry (chemical structures and names)
  • CASREACT (single and multistep reactions from 1974-present)
  • CHEMLIST (information on regulated chemicals)
  • CHEMCATS (commercially available chemicals and their suppliers)
  • MEDLINE (biomed lit provided by the National Library of Medicine)

SciFinder Scholar has a graphical user interface that is intuitive and easy to use. Researchers can search by author, research topic, company/organization name, or chemical name/reaction. You can also search by drawing chemical structures, browse tables of contents, get related information through citations, retrieve related web sites, and analyze results to find the most published author/organization in a research field. Links to full-text articles and patents are provided when available.

For more detailed information on SciFinder Scholar and its features, please visit the SciFinder Scholar web site.
