University Libraries is happy to announce that
Zoological Record
is now up on the Web. It provides the most comprehensive coverage
of wordwide zoological literature from 1978 to the present and includes references from over 6,500 international journals, review annuals,
monographs, meeting proceedings, books, and reports.
Seven other SilverPlatter
databases, previously available only
within the libraries, are now available to the Web. These databases are:
Bibliography of Native North Americans, Criminal Justice Abstracts, Mental Measurements Yearbook, The Philosopher's Index,
Social Work Abstracts, NASW Register of Clinical Social Workers, and Transport. The software that runs these databases, WebSPIRS,
allows you to search two or more databases simultaneously.
We also have a new database, Polling the Nations.
This is a database of polls taken on a variety of subjects all over the world. Each record
in the database consists of one poll question and the participants' responses. Records are indexed by subject matter, publication year, general
and specific location, and survey method. Other information provided includes: source name and contact information, sample size, and notes
on the sample population.
When on campus, these databases can be accessed at the
libraries' homepage by
clicking on "Alphabetical List" under "Databases". The use of these databases is restricted to George Mason University faculty, staff and students and requires access through a
proxy server when used off campus. (See http://magik.gmu.edu/lso/proxy.html for more information.)
If you have questions about these databases, please contact your nearest reference desk.
