Cataloging & Metadata Services

Responsibilities and Objectives

Cataloging & Metadata Services provides resource description and access to research materials purchased or acquired as gifts by the University Libraries, in varying formats (books, journals, scores, media, electronic resources, etc.). Descriptive information is formulated according to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules. Subject access is provided through the assignment of Library of Congress subject headings and call numbers. The Libraries' online catalog is an implementation of the Ex Libris Voyager system. We also contribute our catalog records to the OCLC Worldcat database and the Washington Research Library Network's union catalog. As a member of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging, we contribute authority records to the Library of Congress/NACO authority file.

Please contact Cataloging & Metadata Services if you discover problems and/or inaccuracies in the library catalog. We can also rush catalog any item that has been received but is not yet on the shelf.
