Software
All of the following resources are located in the Statistical Research
Services Center at Fenwick Library.
- Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)
The
SPSS company website is an excellent resource for technical support including SPSS AnswerNet.
SPSS is loaded on the Memex computer.
Support documentation are available in a locked file drawer in the
Statistical Research Services Center (ask at the reference desk for access):

A short course on SPSS is held once a semester. CD-ROM based tutorials for
SPSS Basics and SPSS Intermediate are available in C103 on one of the smaller
Pentium computers. Each CD takes about 4.5 hours to complete. A tutorial is available
within SPSS. Go to "Help" on the menu bar.
- SAS
SAS is the most complete and complex statistical package. For more
information, please visit the company website.
The complete set of SAS manuals, except for data mining, is available online
on Memex.
The following books are also housed in the Statistical Research Services

STATA is a recently developed statistical package used in Sociology and the
School of Public Policy. For more information, visit the company
website. STATA is available on the Memex
computer.

A short course on SAS is held once a semester.
For all these statistical packages, an excellent reference resource is
located at UCLA's
Statistical Computing website. This site is especially helpful for those
learning any one of these programs (SPSS, SAS or STATA).
