Biography

I began working as the Education Librarian at Mason in the fall of 2023. Before that, I worked in Mason Libraries supporting English Composition for about 3 years. I am originally from North Carolina and moved up to the DMV in 2019. One of my favorite parts of my job is learning about the wonderful and impactful research that faculty and students are doing here at Mason. I am lucky enough to encounter all of this work and do my best to support it.

My academic research focuses on accessible and inclusive online library instruction. I am currently in the process of co-writing a book on this topic through the Association for College and Research Libraries Press. Earlier work that I have presented and published on include creating DEI Community of Practices, performing online Usability Studies, and developing online instructional design practices for academic librarians.

Outside of work I enjoy playing with my dog, Keystone, and watching movies. Currently I am on a Sci-Fi kick, so I've been making my way through various Star Trek and Star Wars series.

What I do at Mason Libraries

As the Education Librarian, I primary support faculty and students in the College of Education and the Higher Education program. Some examples of this support are:

• Teaching information literacy skills through in-class visits or creation of online objects
• Building a modern and rounded collection of books and journals
• Meeting 1-on-1 with individuals (students AND faculty) to consult on research needs
• Connecting individuals with other library departments
