Biography

I became the Engineering Librarian for George Mason University in summer 2022. Previously, I was the Engineering Librarian at the University of Akron (UA) in Ohio for 15 years. In addition to my years as a librarian, I was a student there having earned a BS and a MS in Electrical Engineering.

My research interests include engineering student information seeking behavior, library instruction best practices, use of LaTeX in academia, and web accessibility.

What I do at Mason Libraries

I am the subject liaison for the Volgeneau College of Engineering including bioengineering; civil, environmental, infrastructure engineering; cyber security engineering; electrical and computer engineering; mechanical engineering; systems engineering and operations research; data analytics engineering; and the programs therein.

Some things that I do are as follows.

Provide Instructional support by

  • tailoring library instructional sessions to an assignment in
    • virtual (via Zoom or an online module) or
    • in-person; and
  • collaborating in creating materials to use in assignments.

I help faculty and students by

  • providing research consultations and
  • answering reference questions.

I purchase library materials with available funding and I take purchase and library resource trial requests.
