The Format Review deadline for the Summer 2023 Semester is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28.
All Master's students writing theses and all Doctoral students writing dissertations are required to submit their documents to UDTS via email (udts@gmu.edu) for the Format Review.
In order to be eligible to graduate under the Summer 2023 semester, you must receive an email from UDTS on or by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28 stating that we have approved your document's formatting, and that your Format Review is over.
Whether you receive that email two months before you defend or at exactly 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28 is immaterial.
However, you MUST receive an email notification from UDTS on or by that date/time to remain eligible to graduate in Summer 2023. In doing so, you fulfill the Format Review deadline. If you cannot do so, then you will graduate in Fall 2023 at the earliest.
The Final Submission deadline for graduation under Special Registration for the Summer 2023 Semester is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19.
In order to be eligible to graduate under Special Registration for the Summer 2023 Semester, all Master's students writing theses and all Doctoral students writing dissertations must turn in the final copies of their theses/dissertations and all necessary materials to UDTS on or by that date/time.
By "final copy," we are referring to the version of your thesis/dissertation that fulfills all of the following criteria:
- UDTS has reviewed and approved your document's formatting through the Format Review;
- You have successfully defended (if a Defense is a requirement for your degree/discipline);
- And your committee has approved your content.
If you do not turn in the final copy of your thesis/dissertation and all necessary materials on or by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, then you will graduate in Summer 2023 at the earliest.
