The C-SPAN Collection Endowment

The C-SPAN Collection Endowment was created in 2023 by an anonymous donor. The purpose of the Fund is to provide support for the C-SPAN Collections: Booknotes and the C-SPAN Organizational Records and Historical Archives.

The Fund may be used for support of public programming such as exhibits and occasional topical public lectures and for preservation of existing materials in their analog and digital manifestations, including any other related materials the C-SPAN organization itself, or any former employees or officers, may add in the future. The Fund may also support on-going curatorship of the collection(s), with particular attention to digital components, and including the associated research portal by providing and maintaining links to C-SPAN’s general video library as well as to specific parts of the collection(s) as appropriate. Other uses of the fund may include dissemination of the collection(s) and targeted outreach thereof not only within the university but more importantly in the broader academic sphere of relevant disciplines and their outlets (for example, this may also include inclusion in the Digital Virginias/DPLA) in addition to support for inclusion of C-SPAN Collection materials in relevant Open Educational Resources (OER) for University curriculum and courses and in state and national OER endeavors.
