Collaborative Reading Lists and Edit Citations in Leganto

In this video you will learn how to add collaborators to your Leganto list and edit a citation in your reading list.

Accessing Leganto Outside of Blackboard

In this video you will learn how to access Leganto without having to navigate through Blackboard and link a single reading list to one or more Blackboard courses. You can sign-in to Leganto through https://wrlc-gm.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/readinglist/lists?auth=CAS with your Mason ID and Password.

Preparing for the Upcoming Semester

In this section, you will learn how to reuse a Leganto reading list for your upcoming courses.

Rollover a Reading List

Leganto allows users to rollover a reading list from a previous course. This feature creates a copy of an existing reading list and associates it with a new course. Using rollover is beneficial since you control the process. If you like to plan early for the upcoming term or have a course that starts at an unusual time of year, you are not dependent on the library to begin your work. You also have the flexibility to define what aspects of the reading list should be copied or reset (public notes, student discussions, etc.).

Get Started

Login directly to Leganto or navigate to your Blackboard course and open the reading list you wish to reuse. In the upper right-hand corner of the list click on the three dots to view the menu options. Select the second option on the list to “Roll Over List.”   You can then search for a new course for list addition.

Use the menu to customize the list’s name and decide if you want to copy or reset individual features in the list. Then select Rollover.

*Note: If your course is still active, you will receive a warning. Users accessing the old list will no longer be able to view any changes going forward. Consider retiring the old list before proceeding.*

We now can see a Rollover successful message to confirm our new list is ready.

Export & Import a Leganto Reading List

Another way to add a pre-existing list to your Blackboard course is to utilize the export and import tool. This feature is useful if you want to share or use a list from other instructors.

Export a List

To begin exporting open up a reading list, use the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the page and click on the Export option in the drop-down list.

Export options include:

  • .lgn file, which is a Leganto specific format. Use this option so you, or any user who has access to the exported list, can import this file as a reading list
  • Microsoft Word file, in a citation style of your choosing
  • PDF
  • Microsoft Excel file
  • RIS file, which can be uploaded to My Collection by you or any user with access to the file
  • EndNote format

Select your preferred format and download the file.

Import a List

Begin by logging into Leganto. To import a reading list in Leganto click on New List and add the list name and description. Select Import to locate the .lgn file on your computer and click create.
