Biography

I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. As an undergraduate, I majored in English Language and Literature at Yonsei University in Seoul. I came to America to study Communication at Purdue University. I became interested in a career in librarianship after working at the reference desk at the Humanities, Social Sciences and Education Library at Purdue.

My first library job was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. The most enjoyable part of my work was exchanging exhibition catalogs with hundreds of museums in the World. Since then, I have worked in many different types of libraries. My recent positions include clinical librarian at Howard University School of Medicine where I educated clinicians on finding evidence and data librarian at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where I educated researchers on finding and managing clinical and public health data.

I joined George Mason University Libraries as a Social Sciences Librarian in the fall of 2023.

What I do at Mason Libraries

I am a liaison librarian for five programs/departments: African and African American Studies, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Psychology, and Sociology. I provide consultations, teach library research and develop research guides on my subject areas. I am also responsible for developing resources such as books, journals and databases that support teaching, learning and research on those subjects.

As a member of the Mason community, I also support the mission of the University. Currently, I am a member of the AAPI (Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander) affinity group planning committee which also entails creating additional resources for the AAPI community at Mason. In addition, I am a member of the ARIE 2024 conference planning committee.

I am excited to join Mason and look forward to helping, supporting, collaborating and learning from you all with a mutual goal of inclusivity-centered excellence.
