We are pleased to announce a new round of the Mason Libraries Undergraduate Student Research Prize, a program designed to support the pursuit of excellent undergraduate research at George Mason University! This program is made possible by the generosity of many donors (including alumni, friends, and university faculty and staff) who contributed to the creation of the Libraries’ new Student Research Endowment, with the initial challenge gift coming from the members of the Libraries’ Advisory Board.
One prize of $1,000 is available for the spring 2025 semester. If a group project is selected to receive the prize, the award amount will be divided equally among the members of the group. The award is for one academic year and is not renewable.
Criteria and Eligibility
- Open to currently enrolled George Mason University undergraduates from any discipline.
- The research paper (by an individual or a group) must have been completed in a George Mason University course (taken for credit) during the prior twelve months.
- The research paper should be an essay or longer paper that makes an original argument based on research and synthesis of secondary and/or primary sources and should include a list of works cited. Undergraduate theses are allowed, as are research proposals if they include a literature review.
- The papers will be reviewed for the clarity and strength of their goal/objective, literature review, and research methodology/approach.
